Hi, I'm Karlee!
I'm a photographer and digital creator from the Northeast corner of the United States. My passion for digital and visual media started at a young age, as I realized my only essential carry-on item was my camera bag.
Throughout high school, photography was my side hustle. I did senior portraits, weddings, maternity sessions, etc... for anyone who wanted me. My rates fluctuated as I went through the "oh, you don't have to pay me!" phase. My experience kept building, and I began to focus on more creative projects.
After high school I took a gap semester to chase my love of nature, traveling, and animals. I did volunteer work in New Zealand and Ireland for that semester, working with animals and practicing my photography and videography.
After my travels, I enrolled as a full-time student at Monmouth University studying Media Communication and Photography. A week after starting school, I was hired by Monmouth's Athletic Department to be their Athletic Photographer. What I expected to be a casual work-study quickly became my pride and joy. I fell in love with photographing the energy & emotion that comes along with athletes and sporting events. I couldn't dream of a more rewarding college experience; something I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
In my final year of college, I was hired as the Creative Assistant for a boutique and jewelry company in New Jersey. After college, I jumped around a bit! While still working part-time as the Creative Assistant for House of Lucky and The Lucky Collective, I also accepted a role with Major League Baseball as a Content Creator for the 2021 season. I juggled both roles and did a lot of traveling to pursue my passions for creativity and social media.
As baseball season began winding down, I accepted a seasonal role with the Washington Commanders (then, Washington Football Team). I moved down to DC for the entirety of the Football season to assist in their creative needs. I grew so much in that role and gained confidence in my abilities to take charge. At the close of my time in Virginia, I was offered a full-time position at Vanderbilt University as the first (humble brag) Photographer for their athletic department. Cheers to women in sports!
I moved out to Nashville, TN shortly after and got right to work in February, 2022. One of the first things I wanted to work on at Vanderbilt was assisting their social media presence and branding. I developed a new approach to the look and feel of their digital content, and introduced brand-intentional color grading. Aside from just creating content, Vanderbilt gave me so many incredible opportunities and memories. From traveling through Europe with Men's Basketball, to spending a week in Hawaii with Football, to galavanting all over the city with different teams for my "specialty": Lifestyle Shoots; I can't deny how much fun I had at VU.
Joining an SEC school was an eye-opening experience; witnessing the love, talent and passion within college sports. I loved growing, learning, and living in Nashville amongst the Vandy community. I developed my voice and truly took 'hold of my life and the direction I wanted to go, and it became clear to me that I needed to make a change.
At the end of 2023 I made the leap to pursue freelance photography and content creation full time. I moved back to Virginia to be with my significant other, and finally put an end to our FaceTime dates. I have gotten right to work with some new clients and long-term projects in the UGC space. I have always loved social media, and creating content beyond just photography - and I am so excited to take on projects that allow me to utilize these skills, too!
